Willow Yarns Denim Grace Review

 Willow Yarns Denim Grace (40% Acrylic, 30% Nylon, 30% Wool, 360 yards / 330 meters, 5.3 ounces / 150 grams)

I have purchased the yarn so I can offer a true/unbiased review.

This is the first time I'm using this yarn. I was actually looking for some new yarn and this popped up. Every time I go to Herrschners I see Willow Yarns, just never ordered from them before. A while back a coupon code for free shipping from Herrschners arrived in an email and it was valid for Canada as well! How could I resist :)

The label calls for a 5mm hook, I'm using a 4mm hook. You could use a 4.5mm hook, depending what you are making with it. It's fairly thin yarn, a dk weight. On the website it's advertised as being worsted weight.... not..... it's definitely dk weight. How do they decide these things? Would be nice if all yarn companies got together and labelled everything the same.

So - it's not worsted weight but still easy to work with and easy to unravel (very important when designing!). Sometimes when yarn has a wool content it can be sticky to unravel. Had to unravel a few times before getting the right stitch pattern, and it was no problem. Depending how you crochet you may have to watch for a bit of splitting. I noticed that there is one spot in my sample above where it split and I will have to hide a partial loop.

I really like the feel of this yarn. It's soft and will drape nicely if you are making a shawl, or even a t-shirt or top of some kind. If they had baby colors I would definitely make a baby blanket with this yarn.

They have a wide variety of colors, and you can also purchase a sampler pack  which is what I did. I also purchased a bag of 5 of one color (a bit cheaper), which is what I am using for the shawl in the photo above.

Would I buy this yarn again? Absolutely! They have a few more colors now, so may have to see if I can find a few that work together to make a baby blanket, or even a striped shawl!
